Collaborative Story

The disinfectant smell of the hospital room fills my nostrils, the pillow that I must have been lying on for a while has moulded to the shape of my grey haired head and soft fragile hands embrace my right hand. Familiar voices murmur around me some are sobbing others comforting. The doors open and an unfamilar voice calls for someone in the room. They are having a conversation about whether they can take me home. I doze off.

The cold breeze strikes my face as I am wheeled outside and into an ambulance, the soft fragile hand still grips onto mine. Different shadows of colours flicker around me as the engine revs and I am taken home. The doors open, and I am wheeled out of the ambulance and into the familiar surroundings of my home. I am lifted off the ambulance stretcher and into my own bed, my whole body relaxes as I am layed there.

A few days pass and my family members never stop telling me how much they love me and that they don't want me to leave. At first I wonder where I'm going and then I realise that these will be my last few days. I don't want to go yet, Vivienne embraces me into a tight hug and kisses me on the cheek I can feel the wetness of her tears against my skin. She doesn't leave my side until the end.
